I started this project in the 1990’s. Never, in my wildest imagination did I think I’d still be updating it in 2025! I also never imagined that these tools would be used by as many people as have used them!

I have made the decision that the 2025 version is the last I’ll do.

I have left the 2025 routines (spreadsheets and surveys) on this website for now. You are more than welcome to use them along with the 2026 Itinerary book, when it’s available, and update them yourself.

If you are interested in updating the spreadsheets, open the one you want to work with and click on one of the tabs at the bottom of the page. Right Click this tab and select Unhide. This will present a list of hidden worksheets. Select all of these to display them. These are the worksheets that need to be updated to conform to the Itinerary book. The “Detail Information” tab provides information as to the use of these tabs.

The Survey forms are simply Word documents. Update them to conform to the programs listed in the Itinerary Book, Guidebook to Adventure, and other sources.

This site is the home of tools developed to assist crews in selecting their itinerary choices for a Philmont Trek.  The tools included here are just that — tools!  Crews should use them as part of their selection process. This process works best if the entire crew is involved.

Two steps are recommended in preparing for your trek. These are the Itinerary Selection Process and the preparation of a crew Duty Roster.
